David can win out against Goliath in social media

One of the unique things about social media is it’s ability to completely level the playing field for companies in competition.

Cost is not an impediment for small businesses. The social media platforms are free-to-use in the main. The main cost for SMEs is time. Social media success requires a great deal of time and patience.

Indeed, it may well be the case that small businesses can have an advantage. Large companies have marketing teams, firm strategies in place. It is hard for these big ships to turn around quickly.

Social web means good conversation

Customers expect a more personal service from a small company. And social media effectiveness hinges upon conversations. People (clients/prospects) interacting with people (employees)

Connection needs to be at the core of your social media marketing strategy. Make the needs of your target audience the priority. A willingness to listen and then respond will be a sure way to more than hold your own against far larger competitors in the social web.

Because that is what this after all. The social web. Make people feel that you care ( you do, so it should come across naturally) and you will become popular faster than you think.
